And, as an accent, you can use a 30 × 50 cm cushion to place it in front of everything.
This is the trickiest part, and perhaps the most important. You should find a balance between sobriety and excess of color, because you can achieve a bland and graceless result or, on the contrary, too aggressive and loaded.
We recommend that you start using a very simple trick: play with up to three colors, you’ll be sure. The main shade will match that of the sofa or bedding. In the case of printing, you will take its main color as the main color and it is recommended to use plain cushions. If it is a bed with a printed duvet, you can take the matching cushion covers and the rest of the cushions will be smooth, in shades of the print.
If you are using plain bedding or sofas, you can choose patterned cushions with the shade of the cover or duvet as the main color and introduce other solid cushions in a third tone that combines the contrast with it.
If you decide to use cushions with different patterns, always in the same colors. But be careful when choosing them, with three different patterns that match each other is enough. Choose a range of colors to use in prints that match the rest of the room’s textiles: curtains, wallpaper, or bedding. You can use patterns such as flowers, stripes, stars… but always using chromatic consistency.
Shaped cushions give a lot of play when transforming a little one’s bed into a play area. The stars, moons and clouds will bring a softer and more relaxing style to rooms with soft pastel decor. For the more adventurous, cushions in the shape of an elephant, a tiger, a cat … or any other animal will create a very playful atmosphere and are also trendy.
