Brenda used dies from Simon Says to create this wonderful Haunted House card. She ink blended for the grass, added white paint splatter on navy for the night sky and used colored cardstocks for the house and ghost, adding some detail with a white gel pen. I love the witches hat on the house and the ghost! I spotted her idea on the My Papercut Creations Instagram page.
It’s almost time for spooky season, are you creating your own cards this year for Halloween? Every year the new paper crafting Halloween products always have all the classic icons but there will usually be one really popular trend and this year it’s Ghosts! I’m seeing Ghosts on stamps, dies, pattern paper and stencils, I guess they are the “it” creature for this Halloween. But an even bigger trend with the Ghosts is to make them cute with bows on their heads, sweet smiles, and non-traditional color combos like using lots of pink and pastels but don’t worry if you’re not into cute, there’s some spooky one’s too. Hanh’s adorable card uses the negative space of thick die cut letters for the openings on a shaker card. Inside is Halloween confetti and on the front are a trio of cute stamped ghosts colored with Copic Markers, a hanging spider and heat embossed sentiment. This little ghostie on Jeanne’s card is popping up out of a Jack O Lantern on her 3D box card. She applied glitter to the stars cut from the background and added a die cut sentiment to the front box panel. I love this color combo of purple, teal, orange and green! She used products from Pink and Main for her design.
Brenda’s card is full of Fall fun with an orange plaid pattern paper scalloped background, a dry embossed and die cut orange panel with vines and leaves and of course the star of the show, the sweet ghost. She’s die cut, holding a large candy corn and wearing a wonderful Witches hat with band, bow and gem. The holes around the die add texture but also are a fun place to add stitching if you want. She used dies and colored cardstock with a little inking for shading and texture on the inside of this interactive card design. Melisa’s card has an amazing stenciled circle filled with a cloudy night. She masked of the round area and used a stencil and Distress Inks in purple and black, adding details with a white gel pen. I am always blown away by Amy’s coloring, isn’t this card stunning!? She used a digital stamp from Sweet November of a ghost coming out of a Jack O Lantern, coloring it and also creating the background from scratch using Copic markers, adding stars and sparkles inside the pumpkin with a white Sharpie pen. Who says ghosts can’t dress up and go trick or treating too? This sweet card has a die cut ghost wearing cat ears and her black cat friend getting their pail filled with candy. The background has a subtle ink blended edge with lots of stamped stars. I came across this idea on the Hero Arts blog.
Don’t forget to add an extra touch of spooky to any Halloween design with small ghosts like Jennifer did here. She stamped, die cut and inked a large book of unwise wishes (open at your own risk), adding stamped spiders and drips of blood, a lock and tiny ghosts escaping. Sophie’s card had a funky retro feel with a group of ghosties walking up the lane to a haunted house. She created a terrific scene with a stenciled walking path, adding die cut pumpkins in the yard, the ghosts, fence, trees, bats and house are also die cut and she stamped some sentiments as well.
