For the guy who loves to grill here’s two cards created with dies. Each card has a fun textured background with silver metallic cardstock die cut for the metal grilling tool parts. I love the tools and beer tucked into the high top Converse shoe, perfect for a dude you loves his kicks. Visit the Spellbinders blog for more details.
I’ve heard so many times over the years card makers tell me they have trouble creating masculine cards, we all probably have many floral and cute animals stamps in our stash but that might not work for the dudes in your life. So with Father’s Day coming up soon it’s the ideal time to get inspired to make cards for guys, not just for Dad’s Day but beyond for occasions like Birthdays, Thinking of You, Anniversary and more. You know your man/Dad/brother the best so think about what they enjoy, hobbies, sports, grilling, gaming, gardening, camping and try to incorporate that into your design to make the card personal and meaningful to them. So let’s check out some cool card inspirations we can create for our cool dudes.
Who knows guy cards better than a guy? Brian created this stamped tools card for the man who is handy around the house. This grid style has a stamped nuts and bolts background on each die cut square panel with holes around the edges and large tools stamped and colored with alcohol markers along with the stamped sentiment in strips in the center. Learn more at the Stamp with Brian blog.
This clean monochromatic blue card has three stamped icons in the center for a man who loves to grill, look dapper and is handy with tools. There’s a large stamped sentiment below and added texture with dry embossed lines on the sides with the panel adhered to the navy card base at an angle. I spotted this idea at the Papertrey Ink Instagram page.
Lisa has a quick and easy card for the outdoorsman. She’s stamped a large woodland scene with a deer onto woodgrain pattern paper, that’s been die cut with an arched top, best of there’s no coloring needed! She stamped her sentiment on strips along the top and placed mesh behind the panel and adhered that to another forest printed paper. Watch her video on the Unity Stamps blog.
Kerri’s heartfelt card is inspired by Carl and Ellie in the Disney/Pixar movie “Up”. There’s so much texture and dimension from a woodgrain heart, die cut grass and sun, cheese cloth, grosgrain ribbon, plaid pattern paper and of course the darling stamped couple. Take a closer peek over at the C.C. Designs blog.
For the Dad who is always pulling out his wallet and paying for everything, pay him back a bit with this cool wallet card design and fill it with a gift card or some cash just for him to spend on himself. Brenda used dies and an embossing folder to create a very realistic looking wallet with patterned front with a flap and tabs to tuck items inside. See the front of this card at the Honey Bee Stamps blog.
Nicki’s cool card let’s the sentiment do the talking. On a piece of clear acetate she’s heat embossed a large sentiment stamp with gold powder, placed it over a base of navy cardstock with gold spritzing, using brads that look like screws. Find all the info over at the Nicki Hearts Cards blog.
For the fisherman comes Karen’s tackle box card. Using kraft and blue cardstocks she die cut the box that has several sections that work like little frames to place stamped lures, fish and a sentiment in to. These layering stamps have an outline and other layers to stamp with colored ink pads, no need to color in! Find all the details at the Cut Cardstock blog.
For the sports lover comes two cards from Christi, she used her electronic die cutting machine, SVG cut files and lots of colored cardstock for her designs. First is a fun jersey shaped design, use your guys favorite team colors and player number and a tall slimline card for a sporty Dad with die cut letters and three different balls, with inked edges for shading. Learn more at the 12×12 Cardstock Shop blog.
Make any guy a happy camper with this fun card from Jessica. She used inks and stencils to create the mountain background and dies for the camper but the really neat part is the shine and color from the blue foiling she used on parts of the RV! Watch her video tutorial on the Therm O Web blog.
For the dude who loves working on cars is this long slim line card from Eline. I love the cute busy beavers fixing the orange VW Bug with all their little tools and street signs, it’s such a fun die cut scene! Take a closer look over at Marianne Designs.
This wonderful card is something I would have loved to create for my Grandfather, he was from Florida and everyone called him Gator. This Gator is busy fixing a table, grilling out and just having fun. It’s another slimline card with three blue inked circles for each of the stamped Gators along with a small stamped sentiment near each as well. I came across this idea at the Frankly Just Cards Instagram page.
I hope you’ve been inspired to create more masculine cards for the men in your life!
